DC Firefighter Killed In Early Morning Maryland Shooting: Officials

Officials have confirmed that a veteran DC firefighter and father was killed in an early morning shooting in Charles County.

Members of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office were called shortly before 3:30 a.m. on Monday, May 8, to Sedgemore Place in Bryan’s Road, where they found an eight-year veteran of the DC Fire Department suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Firefighter/EMT Carl Braxton, 30, was rushed to an area hospital with critical injuries following the shooting, where he was later pronounced dead from the gunshot wounds, according to officials.

At the time of his death, Braxton was serving with the Engine Company 22 in Shepherd Park. He joined the agency after graduating in 2015. He is survived by his two sons.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. No additional detail shave been released by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
